A brand new trailer has just made its way online for the much anticipated film, The Imitation Game, the true story of mathematician Alan Turing and his part as a code breaker in WWII, and the trailer presents a moving and powerful true life story, featuring an incredible performance by Benedict Cumberbatch.
Set during the height of WWII the film follows the race against time by revered mathematician Alan Turing (Cumberbatch) and his team of code-breakers at Britain’s top-secret Government Code and Cypher School at Bletchley Park to unravel the Nazi’s Enigma machine. But while Turing is proclaimed a hero, it’s ultimately a story and a life that would end in harrowing tragedy.
Director Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) truly has a world class cast for this with Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, and Charles Dance joining Cumberbatch in the production. The Imitation Game has long been one of Hollywood’s most revered in production movies, with The Weinstein Company paying seven figures for the screenplay, and from what we’re seeing in this first trailer they got their money’s worth.
The trailer plays up the fight against one man’s genius, with the necessity’s of a nation at war, along with both the professional and personal tolls that Turing suffered because of his actions. Cumberbatch is absolutely hypnotic as Turing, and he could be seeing an Academy nod because of it.
The Imitation Game will be released on November 21.
