Comic-Con 2014 delivered surprises galore with various celebrity appearances and generally kick-ass panel discussions. However, when the hordes of Walking Dead fans packed into Hall H on Friday 25 July, it became abundantly clear just how much television has catapulted TV actors and actresses to a level of superstardom that would previously have been unbelievable.
The Walking Dead panel, moderated by Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist, Talking Dead), saw Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus (AKA my number four celebrity crush), Steven Yeun, Melissa McBride, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs and more, arrive to masses of screaming fans. Along with charm, inside jokes and Reedus’ undeniable sexual aura, fans were treated to a sneak preview of what’s to come in season five.
The end of last season painted a grim picture for the survivors after they ended up locked inside a boxcar at Terminus – the supposed “safe haven”. Whilst this was bad news for the characters, it was great news for fans like myself who thrive on watching this unlikely crew struggle in a world of hungry zombies and even more frightening humans.
The trailer revealed some juicy tidbits, and seemed to answer our burning questions about whether or not our favourite characters were able to make it out of the boxcar. The gang appears to have negotiated a deal with their captors in order to get to Washington D.C. to find the cure for the deadly virus. But before you exhale in relief, it’s not all sunshine and roses. There will be trust issues, danger at every turn and the welcome return of bad-ass Rick. Oh. Hell. Yes.
AMC’s The Walking Dead returns to our screens on October 12 and you can expect a full recap and review right here on the SpicyPulp.
