As you know, Marvel’s Agent Carter is set to make its small screen debut tomorrow night on ABC.

Created for television by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the story is set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and follows Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Winter Soldier and the Marvel one-shot short film also titled Agent Carter. Peggy Carter has also made two appearances during flashback scenes in the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Audiences will surely remember Hayley Atwell’s kick-ass portrayal, but in case you need a little refresher, here’s everything you need to know before watching the show.

She was so much more than a love interest in Captain America: The First Avenger

Though Peggy Carter has appeared in various capacities in comic history, her role in The First Avenger was significantly pivotal. Not only was she a British agent with the wit and strength to equal any man in the war effort, but she owned her femininity and beauty without apology. Steve Rogers was smitten right away and so were audiences.

Throughout the film, Peggy and Steve grew closer, but unfortunately never get to have that first date they wanted after he crashes a Hydra plane and the Tesseract into the ocean. That’ll do it.

She won’t take crap from anyone

As proven during the Marvel one-shot short film Agent Carter, Peggy lived in a man’s world, but that didn’t mean a woman like her couldn’t take charge and get the job done…in lipstick and heels. During the short, which took place one year after Steve Roger’s presumed death, Peggy Carter is seen working for the Strategic Scientific Reserve during the hunt for the mysterious Zodiac. Her boss represented certain male attitudes of the time and constantly berated and underestimated Peggy. However, when she has the opportunity to go after the Zodiac herself, she takes it…and boy did her boss look like an idiot in the end.

She made waves during her career

As demonstrated during a flashback sequence in the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Peggy was at the forefront of some exciting post-war missions. In the episode “Shadows”, the SSR and Peggy are seen during a raid of a Hydra facility to arrest the evil Daniel Whitehall and take away the mysterious Obelisk and a blue alien body. During a later episode we find Peggy interrogating Whitehall where he reveals the story about the “blue angels”. She then imprisons him for life like a boss.
