With it’s first trailer Marvel’s Ant-Man showed off it’s brand new addition to the ever expanding Marvel Universe, as well as it’s newest hero in the form of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, and now in a brand new trailer this small time hood get’s his chance to prove that he’s not such a bad guy with one very powerful suit.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man chronicles the journey of Scott Lang (Rudd), a con man and small time thief who must embrace his inner hero, and help his mentor Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) safeguard the Ant Man technology so that it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands, while also pulling off a high stakes heist that could save the world.
This new trailer highlight’s the heroic growth of Rudd’s Scott Lang, focusing specifically on his journey of redemption, and the idea of a second chance, which is gifted to him by his former mentor Dr Hank Pym, the original Ant Man. Pym’s relationship with his daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) is also touched upon, as is Hope’s relationship with Scott. Corey Stoll’s adversarial Darren Cross also takes a larger role in this new trailer, highlighting his aggressive ambition to utilize the Ant-Man technology for a darker purpose, as well as donning the feared Yellowjacket suit!
Thanks to the new trailer we also have a fresh new look at Lang’s abilities as Ant-Man which include a whole lot of acrobatic like combat moves, as well as giving him the ability to get into places that would be impossible for others to gain access to. The CGI is very impressive, and we’re counting on the fact that these abilities will serve both the dramatic as well as the comedic.
Ant-Man is likely to inject new energy and action into the Marvel Universe with a brand new hero who’ll prove that heroes come in all sizes on July 16.
