The New Zealand International Film Festival is shaping up for another stellar season, and leading the charge this year is authentic slice of life documentary The Ground We Won which examines the connection between rugby and manhood in a small Reporoa farming community.

Beautifully shot in black and white by filmmaking team Christopher Pryor & Miriam Smith (How Far From Heaven), The Ground We Won showcases a group of colorful characters, as well as examining how the game of rugby has shaped their community, and the New Zealand character.

The Ground We Won looks to be an evocative and moving story of one community, and the game they love, and will have select showings in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin as part of the NZIFF’s Autumn Season.
