The genius’ at Disney-Pixar look to have done it again with their latest film Inside Out, which examines those little voices inside your head, and just how much their decisions make up you.
In three new spots we’re introduced to the characters of Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Anger (Lewis Black), get a look inside the channels of Long Term memory with Joy (Amy Poehler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith), and find out just how stressful a first day of school can be for Riley’s emotions.
Inside Out follows the story of Riley and her emotions — Joy (Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Black), Disgust (Kaling), and Sadness (Smith). These personified emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters, when Sadness accidentally causes herself and Joy to get lost within the rest of Riley’s Mind. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the remaining emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school, while Joy and Sadness trek through the rest of Riley’s Mind, and try to find a way back to headquarters.
Inside Out looks to be a terrific movie filled with solid filmmaking, and a generous helping of heart. It’s set to be released on June 25.
