When the world was at war, Britain called on a steadfast group of heroes to stand at the ready in case the attack came to them, and that’s where the bumbling heroics of the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard of Dad’s Army comes into play, which is returning to the big screen with considerable laughs.
The new adaptation will pick up in 1944 as the war looms to a close, and the Home Guard find their tour of duty coming to an end. But while the excitement of visiting cosmopolitan reporter Rose Winmters (Catherine Zeta-Jones) has the townsfolk of Walmington-on-Sea excited, the prospect of a German spy loose in their back yard gives Captain George Mainwaring (Toby Jones), and his men one last chance at glory, and possibly saving the day.
Director Oliver Parker (St. Trinian’s, Dorian Gray) has assembled an extraordinary cast for this fantastic adaptation which includes Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Tom Courtenay, Bill Paterson, Daniel Mays, Blake Harrison, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Michael Gambon. The new teaser is packed with plenty of laughs, and has clearly captured the jolly tone of the original BBC series which will be a delight for original fans.
On February 25, 2016 prepare for a barrel of laughs.
