Nine years ago, TV’s favourite mother-daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, made their debut in the CW’s Gilmore Girls. These impossibly beautiful, fast-talking, quirky coffee addicts turned the series into a massive hit, which earned a cult following before its unceremonious cancellation in 2007.
It can now be reported that the series will be revived by Netflix through four 90-minute episodes, with each taking place during one season in a full calendar year.
Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino are said to be writing and directing the revival episodes, which will hopefully give fans the closure and ending they’ve been waiting for.
Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are set to reprise their roles as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore respectively, while Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop are also said to be returning. We’ve got our fingers crossed for some appearances from old favourites like Kirk (Sean Gunn), Lane (Keiko Agena) and Paris (Liza Weil), and would definitely welcome a little Dean (Jared Padalecki) and Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) into the mix if the two were up for it.
This is the best news we’ve heard in TV land for a long time and you can be sure to find more news on the revival right here as it’s released.
