While fans were eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of Guy Ritchie’s reinvention of the King Arthur mythology with Hollywood’s newest bad boy Charlie Hunnam, they’ll now have to wait until early 2017 to see it.

Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur will now be released in February 2017, moving it out of a very congested July 2016 slate which includes releases such as Star Trek Beyond and Ice Age: Collision Course.

The charismatic and stylish Guy Ritchie actually pitched the film to lead actor Charlie Hunnam as ‘Lord of the Rings meets Snatch‘. Hunnam’s pursuit of the role was incredibly intense as he went up against other Arthur frontrunners like Henry Cavill and Jai Courtney. However, his determination paid off, not to mention his strategy of looking to current UFC Featherweight World Champion Conor McGregor as inspiration for his take on Arthur.

Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur will be released on February 17, 2017 in the US with release dates for other territories to be released soon.
