What do you get when the dream team that is Tina Fey and Amy Poehler become sisters? Well thanks to the duo’s latest film, Sisters, we get to see the glorious results of such a pairing.

Fey and Poehler are well-known for their hilarious performances together whether they’re dealing with Mean Girls or hosting The Golden Globes. In Sisters, these former SNL stars play two middle-aged siblings with opposing personalities who become outraged at their parents’ decision to sell the family home. Expressing delayed teenage rebellion, the girls decide to have one last hoorah with a banger of a party.

Kate (Tina Fey) is a single mother with a personality best described as ‘rock n’ roll angst’. She’s the ‘cool mum’ albeit a little neglectful of her daughter, but lovable all the same. Meanwhile, Maura (Amy Poehler) is closer to a modern day Mother Theresa. Innocent and maternal, she is always concerned for the welfare of others. Being a nurse, nothing is off bounds for Maura, and this makes for many funny moments worth cringing over. These polar opposite personalities collide in hilarious ways, making the characters all the more enduring to watch.

As if these leading ladies were not enough, the film also includes multiple cameos that are sure to leave you reeling with laughter. John Cena, John Leguizamo and Ike Barinholtz are an interesting bunch of fellas and great fun to watch during Kate and Maura’s party of the century. Speaking of the party, it doesn’t take long for it to turn into a drug and sex-fuelled manic showdown, and is guaranteed to have you in fits of laughter (particularly if Fey and Poehler’s brand of humour is your thing).
