With less than three months to go until the arrival of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, director Zack Snyder has opened up about what audiences can expect tonally from his sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel and the first chapter in the brand new expanding DC Cinematic Universe.
Commenting on the film’s tone with Obsev.com, Snyder said “I think then fun of the movie is that in the end it’s a drama. They have to figure out each, other. So it’s about what makes them tick and how that’s going to work out in a conflict.”
Snyder also commented that Batman v Superman is the first part of a trilogy that will expand with 2017’s Justice League where things will get a lot bigger including the villains. “We’re working on Justice League right now. In a weird way, Justice League is the next step for these characters to form a bigger team. Maybe there’s a bigger enemy to fight.”
Finally, Snyder praised his lead star in Ben Affleck and stressed that his turn as Batman is going to be incredible, saying “[Affleck] is an amazing Batman….he’s a great Batman.”
The epic showdown between the son of Krypton and the bat of Gotham is almost here, and is sure to rock audiences everywhere when it’s released on March 24, 2016 in Australia and New Zealand and March 25, 2016 in the US and UK.
