The Conjuring is without a doubt one of the most popular horror films to be released in recent years and exceptional in many ways given its solid story, terrifying scares and brilliant visual execution. It also helped that Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson portrayed the controversial paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
James Wan, co-creator of the original Saw and director of The Conjuring, has built a formidable reputation for himself in the horror world, so it’s no surprise that he was asked to return to direct The Conjuring 2.
This time, the Warrens find themselves travelling to 1977 England to assist a single mother whose children have complained of poltergeist activity. The film’s first trailer has just been released, and judging by the footage so far, fans of the original are going to be more than pleased by Wan’s latest offering.
The Conjuring 2 will be released in the US on June 10 and the UK on June 17.
*Correction: a previous version of this article stated that the title of the film was The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. Director James Wan has since stated that the proper title is simply The Conjuring 2.
