It’s been a great year for Amazon Studios with stellar releases including The Man in the High Castle and Transparent, and now the studio is looking to find even more success with Elvis & Nixon.
On the morning of December 21, 1970, singer Elvis Presley (Michael Shannon) shows up to the White House and requests an urgent meeting with President Richard Nixon (Kevin Spacey), to swear him in as an undercover agent in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
Originally developed by actor turned writer Cary Elwes as a project for Eric Bana, Michael Shannon has now stepped on board as The King and is set to give another one of his brilliantly manic performances. Opposite the king is the furiously up-tight Richard Nixon played by the magnificent Kevin Spacey. The give and take chemistry between these two performers is spot on, and will result in the showdown of the century.
Get ready for the big event of Elvis & Nixon when it’s released on April 15.
