Written by Alvin Schwartz with illustrations by Stephen Gammell, the popular three-book children’s series drew inspiration from folklore and urban legends, causing controversy over its terrifying violent content and downright frightening illustrations.
It’s hard to think of a director more qualified than del Toro, given his penchant for eerie imagery and passion for the subject matter. This is sure to be a real fright fest and visually extraordinary.
