Demons are no joke people.

Fox has just released a trailer for its adaptation of the 1973 film The Exorcist, revealing a terrified Geena Davis as a mother desperate to help her daughter, and a priest (Alfonso Herrera) who is way in over his head. Filled with plenty of creepy moments and interesting characters, this series might just do the original justice, while paving its own way in the competitive world of television.

The Exorcist (1973) was an adaptation of the novel by William Peter Blatty, which was inspired by the 1949 exorcism of Roland Doe. However, the film took a slightly different route, having a 12-year-old girl at the centre of the demonic possession, which was played to perfection by Linda Blair.

With horror becoming more popular on television (American Horror Story, The Strain), there’s definitely an audience for this daring adaptation, and it will be interesting to see how it fares later this year.
