Director Ben Wheatley is quickly becoming a modern day cinematic auteur with a diverse group of eclectic projects that include A Field in England and High Rise. Now he’s going for all-out, black comedy, shoot-em-up madness with Free Fire.
The film follows a group of criminals in the 1970s who find themselves in an arms deal gone wrong, which quickly escalates into a gun battle with neither side really having any idea about what is actually going on.
Wheatley really lucked out with a terrific cast which includes Sharlto Copley, Academy Award winner Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy, Sam Riley and Jack Reynor.
Free Fire looks completely crazy with its maddening ultra violence and quick fire comedy that will undoubtedly see cinema audiences hollering with laughter.
Following its world premiere at TIFF, Free Fire will make its way into cinemas on March 31, 2017.
