There’s no denying Jared Leto’s commitment to his roles, so it’s no surprise that his next role will involve him taking on a larger than life icon.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Suicide Squad star is set to star in a biopic about Andy Warhol, and will also take on producing duties alongside Academy award nominee Michel De Luca. Titled Warhol, the film will be written by Terence Winter (The Wolf of Wall Street).
Andy Warhol has been given the big screen treatment a number of times now, having been portrayed by Guy Pearce in Factory Girl, Crispin Glover in The Doors, and David Bowie in Basquiat. More recently he was portrayed by John Cameron Mitchell in the TV series Vinyl.
Known as a pioneer of pop art in the 1960s, Warhol’s studio, The Factory, was the place to be seen, with big Hollywood names and other major artists often hanging out there. Here’s hoping Winter, De Luca and Leto can offer audiences something equally as iconic as Warhol himself.
