Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange smoulder as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in ‘Feud’ photos
Ryan Murphy fans would have heard of the producer extraordinaire’s upcoming project, Feud, which looks at the well documented relationship between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
The series features Murphy’s most ambitious cast yet, with Davis being played by Susan Sarandon, and Crawford by the producer’s frequent collaborator, Jessica Lange. To add to the hype, EW has just released the first images from the series, showing its two main stars looking perfectly cast as the famous film actresses. See the rest of the images here.
Joining Sarandon and Lange in the cast are Alfred Molina as Robert Aldrich, Stanley Tucci as Jack Warner, Sarah Paulson as Geraldine Page, Judy Davis as Hedda Hopper, and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Olivia de Havilland.
For those who don’t know (though it’s unlikely if you’re reading this site), Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were two of Hollywood’s brightest stars during the classic age of cinema. However, the two stars were enemies, which made filming What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? a tad fraught. Both Davis and Crawford had gotten to a point in their careers where they were often cast aside and forgotten, making the film an important move on their part. The animosity between the pair only worsened after Davis was nominated for an Oscar for her work in the film. But not one to be forgotten, Crawford famously stole Davis’ spotlight on the night.
Murphy’s Feud, which premieres on March 5, will cover this history, and the famous Oscar night.
