Henry Cavill has officially joined the cast of Mission: Impossible 6!
The British thespian took to his Instagram to confirm the newsafter writer/director Christopher McQuarrie contacted him via the platform to personally offer him a role.
Following Cavill’s own post, Variety confirmed his casting which will see him star alongside Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner. While plot details are still tightly under wraps, Variety pointed to the idea that Cavill will likely play an IMF operative who is posted to a newly formed special operations unit that Cruise’s Ethan Hunt will oversee.
This isn’t the first time that Cavill and Cruise have crossed paths, as Cavill assumed the role of Napolean Solo in Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. after Cruise vacated the role for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
There is no confirmed start date, but with Cavill finishing production on psychological thriller Nomis, we can speculate that filming could commence before the end of the year.
