Matt Bomer steals the show in the upcoming Amazon Prime original production of The Last Tycoon, which promises a lavish television spectacle that captures the heights of Hollywood’s golden age.
Check out the new trailer below:
Adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic story, The Last Tycoon follows the activities of movie producer Monroe Stahr (Bomer), who has an entirely new vision that he believes will shake up the establishment of Hollywood. Buying into Stahr’s vision is the young and impressionable Cecelia Brady (Lily Collins), who also happens to be the daughter of mogul Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer). But as the pair begin to step out on their own, the mechanics of the movie business tear at their shared passion, and Stahr is forced to choose between reality and his vision.
Originating as part of Amazon’s 2016 pilot season, The Last Tycoon has now been ordered to series and no expense has been spared in bringing to life 1930s Hollywood. From exquisite costuming and hair and make-up, to grand set designs and some spectacular musical numbers, The Last Tycoon is all we could have hoped for and more.
But aside from the stunning visuals, The Last Tycoon also appears to feature some incredible drama with Bomer, Collins and Grammar at top of their game.
The Last Tycoon will debut on July 28.
