Director Denis Villeneuve and producer Ridley Scott are taking audiences back to the visually striking, and technologically complex future of Blade Runner with the long awaited sequel Blade Runner 2049.
In a brand new featurette, both the film’s stars and its production team offer an insight into this dynamic new vision that they are bringing to the big screen.
“When I heard that Ridley was continuing the narrative I was already invested, I already wanted to know what happened next,” said star Ryan Gosling who portrays LAPD Officer K, a new ‘blade runner’.
Likewise Gosling’s co-star Jared Leto, who portrays the film’s chief antagonist Neander Wallace, also expressed his enthusiasm for the project saying “from the cinematography to the script to working with Denis and Ridley, Roger, Harrison and Ryan, I just feel really lucky to be on the team.”
Beside the onscreen talent, which in addition to Gosling and Leto also includes Harrison Ford who is reprising his role of Rick Deckard, Blade Runner 2049 also features some of the most talented artists in the business including the likes of cinematographer Roger Deakins (who appears to have created his masterpiece) and visual effects guru John Nelson.
The featurette also offers a terrific amount of previously unseen footage including the sprawling cyberpunk cityscape of a futuristic Los Angeles, and the sickly orange radiated wasteland that was once Las Vegas.
