While we now control the vast landmass of the Earth, human’s were not always the dominant species and director Albert Hughes (From Hell, The Book of Eli) takes audiences back into the past with exhilarating survival thriller Alpha.

Here’s the synopsis:

Set 20,000 years in the past during the Upper Paleolithic period, a young caveman (Kodi Smit-McPhee) finds himself torn from his tribe and struggling against the elements, all while building a friendship with a wolf.

Hughes appears to have found the balance between the film’s survival elements and the growing bond that forms between the young hunter and his wolf. The world building looks incredible and Hughes populates the film with plenty of fantastical moments such as the appearance of a Sabre-Tooth Tiger.

Alpha is set to be released in cinemas in 2018.
