It doesn’t get much better than Bruce Willis and Eli Roth and the two of them have gone to work on a slick new reimagining of classic 1970s action film Death Wish.
Here’s the synopsis:
For mild-mannered surgeon Dr. Paul Kersey life with his beloved wife and daughter is good. But when tragedy strikes and he fails to protect them he absolutely loses it. With nothing left and no sign of justice, Kersey takes the law into his own hands and becomes an unstoppable killing machine.

It’s pretty clear from the new trailer that neither Roth nor Willis are pulling any punches with this new adaptation. Death Wish looks incredibly raw, and Roth’s trademark ultra-violence has appeared to have made it into the film.
Death Wish is also a very exciting film for Willis as he’s primarily playing against type and the film could spark a comeback for the legendary actor. While Willis has mostly been working on VOD titles for the last few years his performance as Kersey looks flawless and could mark his return to the big screen.
Roth has described the film as Willis’ own Taken, and in a recent interview with Yahoo Roth commented on the style of filmmaking and Willis’ take on Kersey saying “what’s interesting about Death Wish is it’s not a CIA guy who’s coming out of retirement, you know, he’s not John Wick, he’s not a professional assassin. He’s a normal guy, he’s a surgeon, he’s a dad, he’s never picked up a gun in his life. And with each kill as he gets closer to finding the people that did this to his family, he gains a new skill. He gets better and better and better. So by the end of the film he’s really much closer to John McClane… The very things that make him a good surgeon are what eventually make him a great killer.”
Death Wish definitely has our attention and it will be released in cinemas on November 22.
