Thanks to a brand new featurette audiences now have the chance to go behind the scenes of the superhero epic with star Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi.
Phase Three has seen plenty of changes in the tone and spectacle of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Thor: Ragnarok is definitely mixing things up. “Ragnarok’s a new cycle in the life of the world, and the realms of the universe. It’s the destruction of the old, and the rebirth of the new, and that’s really exciting to me.” said director Taika Waititi. “The way that I’ve approached this is to build it in a new way.”
This ‘new way’ that Waititi speaks of has led Thor away from the realm of Asgard and throws him into the volatile alien world of Sakaar. And it’s here that things get kind of crazy.
From all the footage that we have so far seen it’s clear that Waititi’s desire for originality and freshness has created a film that looks and feels different from all of the other Marvel films. There’s a whole new colour palette and plenty of outlandish characters this time, and star Chris Hemsworth definitely felt that things had been changed up this time around saying “tonally I think it’ s just a perfect mix for where this character and story needed to go. Y’know different costumes, different weapons, different cast and characters to work off give you a different energy.”
Thor: Ragnarok looks like a whole lot of fun with plenty of wild action scenes and some spot-on comedic timing from Hemsworth and his co-star Mark Ruffalo. You can bet we’ll be lining up for it when it is released in cinemas on October 26.
