Historical dramas are all the rage these days, and the decision makers at Netflix will be damned if they don’t get a slice of hot historical pie.
Marco Polo, the latest production from The Weinstein Company, has slowly begun making traction on the internet this week after the first wave of official images was released. Written and created by John Fusco (‘Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron’), the series will follow famous Italian merchant traveller Marco Polo, during his early years in the court of Kublai Khan (founder of the Yuan Dynasty).
Playing the role of the titular character, is Lorenzo Richelmy, who up until this point has primarily starred in a string of Italian TV shows and movies. The striking young actor’s first major introduction to a global audience is sure to be only the beginning of a long career as a major heartthrob. Just look at him…
Rounding out the cast, is Benedict Wong as Kublai Khan, Zhu Zhu as Kokachin (an apparent love interest) and Remy Hii as Prince Jingim.
Marco Polo’s entire first season will be available to stream on Netflix on December 12. Look out for more promos on the SpicyPulp in the months to come.
