In an astonishing turn of events, visionary science-fiction director Neill Blomkamp has decided to treat his fans with a New Year surprise of original concept art from what appears to be an aborted Alien film project.
While Blomkamp has not gone into detail about what the project was, there is speculation that it was some kind of direct pitch to Fox for an Alien sequel. Whatever Blomkamp’s intentions were for the project, the art contains a treasure trove of goodies including a look into a new design for a Xenomorph Queen, a battle ready Ellen Ripley, an acid scarred-up Hicks, and what appeared to be the headquarters of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Also present in the pitch was the Engineers attack vessel, last seen in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, and in Blomkamp’s artwork was now in the hands of Weyland-Yutani.
It’s still very uncertain if we’ll ever get to see Blomkamp’s project make it to the big screen, but one things for sure…he’s got some very intriguing ideas.
