The first official trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s much anticipated gothic horror film Crimson Peak is here, and a deep, and dark horror awaits.
Set in Crumbia, in a crumbling mansion in a largely rural and mountainous region of northern England in the 19th century, young author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) discovers that her charming new husband Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) is not who he appears to be.
Based on an original story by del Toro, Matthew Robbins and Lucinda Coxon, Crimson Peak is being touted as the director’s masterpiece, a gothic horror film of unimaginable terror that has been influenced by works such as The Haunting, The Innocents and The Shining. With exquisite costume and production design, Del Toro brings the cryptic and foreboding darkness of this horror film to life.
Del Toro also has a magnificent cast to work with including Mia Wasikowska as the film’s author heroine Edith Cushing, Tom Hiddleston as the charming and mysterious byronic hero Sir Thomas Sharpe, Charlie Hunnam as the quite, and learned Dr. Alan McMichael, and Jessica Chastain as Sharpe’s freaky and controlling sister Lady Lucille Sharpe.
Crimson Peak looks both magnificent and terrifying, and will scare the living hell out of audiences on October 15.
