Last year a powerful force swept through the internet in the form of the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now we have the release of the eagerly anticipated new teaser!
Set thirty years after the end of The Return of The Jedi, this new installment of the Star Wars franchise will follow a trio of new leads as they have to contend with a dark new threat to the force.
Released as part of this years Star Wars convention, Star Wars Celebration, which kicked off by showcasing three new concept images of The Force Returns lead villain Kylo Ren, the new teaser starts with an ominous voiceover which undoubtedly will belong to an older Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as he discusses the power of the force before we move to a mash-up of footage featuring new characters Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Poe Demeron (Oscar Isacc), as well as featured villain Kylo Ren, plus we also get the return of Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and Peter Mayhew’s Chewbacca, with Han announcing ‘Chewie, we’re home’.
Thanks to Celebration we’ve also learned a little bit more about The Force Awakens three main characters Finn, Rey and Poe Demeron. Boyega described Finn as a character who finds himself in real danger, and confirmed that he is a stormtrooper, Daisy Ridley described her character Rey as a resident of new planet Jaku, who is a scavenger who finds herself working alongside Finn, while Isacc described Poe Demeron as ‘the best pilot in the galaxy’ who is sent on a mission by a certain princess, and ends up running into Finn’s character.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is without a doubt the most anticipated film of 2015, and with this new teaser fans look set for an experience that will once again take them to a galaxy far, far away on December 18.
