The first trailer for Creed has just been released, and star Michael B. Jordan brings a sense of purpose, committed heart, and one hell of a punch.
Creed reunites director Ryan Coogler with rising star Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) for this intense boxing drama which follows Adonis Johnson, an angry but talented young fighter who wants to follow in the steps of his late father, the former heavyweight champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), and compete for the title. His journey to the ring brings him under the guidance of Apollo’s former opponent, and best friend Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), who agrees to train the young fighter.
Jordan has the rope-a-dope down, and looks to be on an even playing field with Stallone. While we’re sure to see some great fights, Coogler and his cast appear to be more interested in the reasons behind what makes a fighter, and are returning to the themes of the underdog and brotherhood which Stallone first explored close to forty years ago.
Get ready to step into the ring on November 26.
