SDCC 2015 is pulling out all the stops with countless panels for upcoming must-see tv shows and films. Arguably one of the most sought-after seats was for Warner Bros’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which revealed an incredibly epic full-length trailer to thunderous applause.
Fearing the actions of a god-like superhero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day saviour, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
As expected, director Zach Snyder and cast members Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Holly Hunter and Jeremy Irons made an appearance to give fans an exclusive look at the upcoming blockbuster.
“I’ve always been into the big icon superheroes,” said Snyder. “Getting the chance to make this particular movie with this particular cast, I don’t know how it gets any better.”
Each of the cast members also opened up about their own roles:
“There’s always kind of a campy element (to Lex Luthor)” Eisenberg said, before commenting that the character has a “real emotional core” in the new movie.
“I’ve wanted to be Lois Lane since I was five years old,” Adams noted.
Affleck said Snyder approached him about Batman thinking that the iconic character was perfect for the actor. “Well, what do you mean? ‘Well, he’s older, he’s at the end of his rope…'” Affleck said to laughter. He also talked about how he ran into Christian Bale at a Halloween costume shop in the Batman section, who advised him, “make sure you can piss in that suit.”
Snyder said Holly Hunter plays an original, “super important part” that was written just for her.
Gal Gadot also talked about her appearance as Wonder Woman. “I have been given a huge opportunity to show such a strong, beautiful side of women.”
And as for Batman’s mech suit. “It’s a self-preservation concept,” Snyder said. “It’s not giving him extra strength, but it’s buying him time.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theatres March 24, 2016.
