‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’: Five Key Moments from the Trailer

On Monday evening, Disney released the highly anticipated final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With breaktaking visuals and small reveals as to how the key characters meet, the trailer was a real feast for the senses. Here are five favourite moments as chosen by the SpicyPulp team:

1. “I’m no one.”

It’s become increasingly clear that Daisy Ridley’s Rey is THE character to watch. In the trailer, we receive more insight into her life as a scavenger on Jakku, while shots like the one above capture Rey’s thirst for adventure. We’re very excited at the possibility of a complex young heroine who we will get to see evolve over the course of the film.

2. “I was raised to do one thing. And I’ve got nothing to fight for.”

We already knew that Finn (John Boyega) was a stormtrooper in the First Order thanks to previous images and teasers released. However, the new trailer shows Finn as a disillusioned and lost young man who appears to switch teams after becoming stranded on the desert planet of Jakku. We love the idea of a trained warrior unable to escape his darker past, and Finn’s journey is sure to make for a compelling watch.

3. “It’s true, all of it.”

The new trailer makes it apparent that the adventures of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and Leia and Luke Skywalker (Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill) are seen as legend more than fact by the new characters. In this scene, Rey is heard asking Han Solo (rumoured to be her father) about the legends. Han simply responds that it’s all true; a confirmation that is sure to throw and excite Rey at the same time.

4. “I will finish what you started.”

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) was already known to be the bad boy in town, but thanks to the new trailer it’s now clear just what the driving force behind his evil is: a wish to carry out Darth Vader’s work. This is also the first time we hear Ren’s voice and it has not disappointed. Brilliant eerie and commanding.

5. The Falcon Chase on Jakku

So this isn’t exactly a revolutionary part…we just thought it was cool when the Millennium Falcon was being chased across Jakku.
