Prepare to receive the word of the Lord in ‘Preacher’ trailer

Following a very strategic tease by AMC, the brand new trailer for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s adaptation of cult Vertigo comic book series Preacher is here.

Preacher follows a disillusioned and conflicted small-town Texas preacher called Jesse Custer who becomes forged with a powerful creature during a tragic incident. Custer then embarks on a journey with his ex-girlfriend Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy to literally find god.

The trailer looks absolutely brilliant, and series star Dominic Cooper is spot on as the hard-edged Jesse Custer.

While Rogen, Goldberg, and series showrunner Sam Catlin have stated that they will move away and mix-up some of the series chronology, they appear to have honoured the source material and, thanks to cinematographer Bill Pope, have created a breathtaking pilot episode that captures the rustic, sepia tone of the comic book.

Preacher was officially picked up for a ten-episode series order on September 9, and filming will begin in February for a mid-2016 release.
