Ever felt so grossly unprepared for a test that you’re left constantly worrying that your mark won’t be up to scratch? Well just imagine being suddenly put in charge of a big budget trilogy with little to no time to prepare, while dealing with a whole lot of pressure from studio bosses and the public to deliver nothing short of perfection.
That’s just the situation Oscar winner Peter Jackson found himself in after Guillermo del Toro departed as director of The Hobbit trilogy. In this behind the scenes featurette below, Jackson explains just how out of his depth he felt.
This will hopefully shed some light on the situation for critics and fans who were disappointed with the films. To be fair, only a true legend could step up to the plate and do what Jackson did in such a short amount of time.
Hopefully after a well-deserved break, Jackson will move on with a project that he is both passionate about and has ample time to prepare for.
