In 1996, Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting ignited film goers and captivated critics with its brazen characters and magnetic style. Now, according to Variety, the film is set to receive that long-awaited sequel, with Boyle and the entire original cast set to return.
It’s been reported that Sony’s TriStar Pictures has already acquired the rights to Trainspotting 2 with production set to begin this spring. It will be exciting to see Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle and Ewan Bremner back together, particularly under the direction of Boyle, whose career sky rocketed after the release of the first film.
Boyle most recently directed Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet, with the film earning plenty of Oscar buzz.
