Elizabeth Banks is a true force to be reckoned with.
Not only has she starred in one of the most popular film franchises of the last five years, but her directorial debut, Pitch Perfect 2, grossed over $287 million. The actress, producer and director is now set to rock the big screen again as director and co-producer of the latest Charlie’s Angels reboot for Sony Pictures.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it now appears that screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos has signed on to pen the script. Spiliotopoulos has been a busy man in recent years having written the scripts for Hercules and Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, not to mention upcoming films The Huntsman and Beauty and the Beast.
Charlie’s Angels was originally a popular TV series produced by Aaron Spelling and first aired in 1976. Two feature films starring Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz followed in 2000 and 2003, before the franchise returned to TV for a short-lived 2011 series starring Minka Kelly.
There’s no word yet on the exact plot of the upcoming film, but we can’t wait to see Elizabeth Banks own the box office again.
