It’s about damn time!
Marvel Studios has officially announced that Fruitvale Station and Creed director Ryan Coogler has been hired to direct Black Panther.
On Coogler’s hiring, producer Kevin Feige said, “We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family. The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther’. Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”
Chadwick Boseman will play the titular character, who is a vital member of the Marvel comics universe. Not only is he the king of the advanced nation of Wakanda, but he’s also served as a member of the Avengers.
Black Panther will be released in cinemas on February 16, 2018 but the character himself is set to make an appearance in this year’s Captain America: Civil War.
