If there’s one young star set to breakout in the next year to big time status it’s Tye Sheridan.
Not only will he be seen this May in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse as Cyclops, but he has also just been cast as the lead in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. Based on the popular book by Ernest Cline, the film will see Sheridan playing protagonist Wade Watts, a teenager who thrives when placed in a virtual utopia called OASIS. Ben Mendelsohn (Slow West) is on board to play main villain Nolan Sorrento while Olivia Cooke (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) is set to play a leading role too.
Sheridan actually made his big screen debut in Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life before landing a leading role in Mud opposite Matthew McConaughey. This also led to a role in the thrilling and underrated drama The Standford Prison Experiment alongside Ezra Miller.
Ready Player One is slated for release on March 30, 2018.
