Celebrating International Women’s Day with Hollywood’s best

In case you didn’t know, it’s International Women’s Day, which offers us the perfect opportunity to celebrate our favourite female movers and shakers in Hollywood. From behind the scenes geniuses to the starlets we’re most excited about, here are the women we’d like to honour today:

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson

Not only are these two the stars of Comedy Central’s hilarious show Broad City, but they also created the series. Fun and fearless, their show is an hilarious look at life for 20-somethings living in New York. If you haven’t yet, be sure to sit down with your friends for a binge-watch of the first two seasons (the third has just started airing).

Ava DuVernay

She directed the Oscar-nominated Selma and is now hard at work on the upcoming Oprah Winfrey Network series Queen Sugar. Not one to slow down, DuVernay has also been announced as the director of Disney’s remake of the novel A Wrinkle in Time.

Sarah Shahi

Person of Interest star Sarah Shahi is on her way to the top, having just won the role of iconic detective Nancy Drew, in a TV series adapted from the books.

Very excited for my new gig. This ain’t your momma’s Drew! HA! @cbstv

Katie Dippold

She’s the in-demand writer of films like The Heat, starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, and the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot for Sony. Though she’s taken lots of flack for her work, there’s no denying her talent and force.

Wrapped!! Wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap. Wrap wrap. ❤❤❤❤ A photo posted by Katie Dippold (@katiedippold) on

Kate Hawley

Hawley is in hot demand thanks to her work as costume designer on films like Crimson Peak, The Hobbit trilogy, Edge of Tomorrow, and the upcoming Suicide Squad. From extravagant period costumes to combat-worthy clothing, she can do anything and do it well.
