We didn’t think we could get any more excited for Suicide Squad, but the brand new Blitz trailer released during the MTV Movie Awards sent us into fits of absolute mania. Here are our five favourite moments:
5. Darkest Knight
Ben Affleck absolutely stunned us in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he’s back to face his greatest nemesis in what will be a very cool flashback scene in Suicide Squad. Not only do we see the Dark Knight roaring around in the Batmobile and leaping from tall buildings, but it looks like he comes to the aid of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
4. “You wanna see something!”
The new trailer is not short on action, but one of the most intense scenes comes at the hands of Jay Hernandez’s Chato Santana aka El Diablo, a former gang leader and pyrokinetic who loses his temper and lets the flames roar!
3. “Light em up!”
Joel Kinnaman is not messing around as Col. Rick Flag, who lays down the law very quickly to the members of Task Force X. Kinnaman looks amped as Flag and he’s packing some serious artillery. While he’s clearly a soldier through and through and is the best at what he does, this mission will prove to be very personal for him, especially with his history with June Moon (Cara Delevinge) which was hinted at in previous trailers.
2. “I want to build a team of some very bad people who I think can do some good.”
She’s the Suicide Squad’s most dangerous member, and we finally got a good look at Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller. This master puppeteer is a Machiavellian schemer of the highest accord and is willing to do anything to get the job done. It also looks like she may have a slight chip on her shoulder in relation to her position within the intelligence community, and this will only further her goals with Task Force X. Director David Ayer has assured fans that Waller is the one to watch, and we highly agree with him.
1. “Are ya sweet talking me. All of that chit chat’s gonna get ya hurt.”
The Clown Prince of Crime is here, and make no mistake he’s very, very scary. While both David Ayer and star Jared Leto are keeping their cards very close to the chest in regards to Mr. J, we did get to see some epic new footage which showcases him decked out in some killer threads, as well as causing grievous bodily harm to any and all that get in his way! We can’t wait to see what Leto does with this legendary character!
Suicide Squad is set for release in Australia and New Zealand on August 4, and in the US and UK on August 5.
