Now that Captain America: Civil War is out and kicking ass in cinemas, it’s time to look forward to the future, which means the release of X-Men: Apocalypse.
While the film will bring plenty of old favourites back to the big screen, along with some new faces, there’s no doubt that fans are most excited to see Olivia Munn’s portrayal of Psylocke. As an intro the tough-as-nails character, 20th Century Fox has released a little power piece on the katana-wielding mutant.
Munn has documented her transformation into Psylocke frequently over the last year, and from the videos we’ve seen, her dedication to the role is nothing short of admirable. And as if we didn’t love the actress enough already, she recently revealed in an interview with American Way Magazine that she actually turned down the role of Vanessa in Deadpool, as she didn’t want to play another girlfriend-type role. While not quoting Munn exactly, the article went on to explain, “Munn says she didn’t want to be the girlfriend. Not again. She wanted to fight. To make noise. To kick butt.” The article also mentions Munn’s early meetings with the X-Men camp, and how insistent the she was on making sure Psylocke was shown as more than just “eye candy.”
X-Men: Apocalypse will be released on May 19 in the UK and NZ, May 26 in Australia, and May 27 in the US.
