Cinematic legend Ang Lee is back behind the camera with an adaptation of Ben Fountain’s best-selling book Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.
After completing service in Iraq, young Army veteran Billy Lynn (Joe Alwyn) embarks on a victory tour, but the harsh reality of what he has witnessed won’t leave him, and he begins to question whether he’s really a hero or not.
The new trailer is filled with patriotic fanfare, but Lee has also clearly focused on the psychological battle that is still raging inside Alwyn’s Lynn. A newcomer to film, Alwyn appears to be holding his own as Lynn, and is in the company of some truly great performers including Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Vin Diesel and Steve Martin.
Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk will definitely touch cinema goers everywhere with its raw story, and it could very well see Ang Lee in the Academy spotlight. It is set to be released on November 10 in New Zealand and Australia and on November 11 in the US and UK.
