The adventure continues in ‘Marco Polo’ season two
Lorenzo Richelmy returns as history’s great explorer in season two of Netflix’s Marco Polo, which has just released an exhilarating new trailer featuring plenty of martial arts fury and political intrigue. Here’s the synopsis:
Following on from the events of season one, Marco Polo is now a high-ranking member in the court of warlord-turned-emperor Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong), who is now facing a dynastic civil war in relation to his command of the Mongol nation from his cousin, and fellow warlord Kaidu (Rick Yune). With swords drawn and blood being shed, Marco will have to decide where he fits in this world, and just how he is going to survive in it.
Netflix’s ambitious historical series appears to be going from strength to strength with new story threads, and the return of its terrific cast which includes the likes of Tom Wu as blind martial arts master Hundred Eyes, Amr Waked as the ambitious scheming chancellor Yusuf, and Joan Chen as Kublai’s politically savvy wife Chabi.
Benedict Wong once again commands the screen with vigor and strength as the mighty Kublai, and Richelmy is no longer the meek and inexperienced boy of season one, but a hardened and disciplined warrior and counselor whose very soul will be tested in the trials to come.
The violence of battle is back on an even bigger scale in season two, and you can also bet that season one’s scintillating sexuality will also be in high demand this time around.
Marco Polo season two arrives on Netflix on July 1.
