Our favourite Hollywood nerds

From big stars to the producers behind your favourite franchises, here are our favourite Hollywood nerds:

1. Stan Lee

As far as nerd power players go in Hollywood, Stan Lee certainly has the longest history.

The former president and chairman of Marvel Comics, he created many of the superheroes audiences have fallen in love with over the years including Iron Man and Thor. His influence on current pop culture is unprecedented, and it’s always a treat to see his cameos in Marvel films and TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

2. Felicia Day

This former Buffy star has a far-reaching fan base from her work in film, television and general life antics. She’s a gamer, web series writer and star, and all-round legend.

3. Stephen Colbert

Late night host Stephen Colbert’s geek status is known far and wide, with his interests ranging from Lord of the Rings to anything Joss Whedon has done. Peter Jackson has even been quoted saying “I have never met a bigger Tolkien geek in my life” (much to Colbert’s delight).

4. Lexi Alexander

An advocate for women’s issues in Hollywood, Lexi Alexander not only directed the film Punisher: War Zone, but she’s also directed episodes of Supergirl, Arrow and Limitless. A former champion martial artist, Alexander has frequently spoken out against sexism in Hollywood, making it clear she’s not here to play around.

5. J.J. Abrams

Having directed two Star Trek films plus last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, J.J. Abrams has more than earned his spot on our favourite Hollywood nerds list. He’s one of us, and he’s living the dream.

6. Kathleen Kennedy

This major cinephile also happens to be one of Hollywood’s mega producers, who was chosen by nerd king George Lucas to head Lucasfilm after it sold to Disney. Having produced films like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Jurassic Park franchise, and The Force Awakens, nothing gets done without her say so, making her pretty much the coolest nerd in Hollywood.
