‘The Magnificent Seven’ are quick on the draw in new trailer
The western genre has been making a resurgence in recent years thanks to films like Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight, and now Antoine Fuqua is stepping up to the plate, bringing with him a new vision for The Magnificent Seven, which has just released a new trailer:
When the town of Rose Krick is besieged by brutal industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the widowed Emma Cullen (Haley Bennett) calls in the help of bounty hunter Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington) and enlists the services of Chisolm and six other outlaws to protect them from Bogue’s return. But while they are initially drawn by the promise of an easy payday the Seven soon find themselves fighting for more than just money.
Fuqua is a talented filmmaker, and the idea of him directing a western definitely intrigues us. What makes it even more interesting is that he would choose to re-imagine The Magnificent Seven, a film that is considered the last of the classic western movies and made stars out of Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson.
The Magnificent Seven is a timeless story, and just as it pulled in some big names back in 1960, this rendition also has an awesome cast of performers including Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio and Byung-hun Lee. Washington brings a grizzled gun-slinging charisma as bounty hunter Sam Chisolm, and he’ll have a few rogues to wrangle including Pratt’s cocky gambler and explosives expert Josh Farraday.
The Magnificent Seven is set to ride into theatres on September 23 in the US and UK and on September 29 in New Zealand and Australia.
