Academy Award nominated screenwriter David Hare has teamed up with veteran British director Mick Jackson for the upcoming film Denial, which sees Rachel Weisz fighting for justice and truth as historian Deborah E. Lipstadt.
Based on Lipstadt’s book History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier, the film details the author’s legal battle against Holocaust denier David Irving (Timothy Spall).
Weisz’s performance looks to be nothing short of incredible, particularly when facing off against the brilliant Timothy Spall as Irving. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if her name gets floated around come awards season.
Joining the two leads is Tom Wilkinson in the pivotal role of Richard Rampton, who works with Lipstadt to prove the existence of the Holocaust.
Denial will be released in US cinemas on September 30.
