Alien invasions have been making a comeback on the big screen this year with sci-fi slugfests like Independence Day Resurgence owning at the box office, but noted director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) appears to be taking a more thought provoking take on the invasion genre, with two of the best performers in the business at his side.
After mysterious spaceships breach the globe, the world’s governments send in an elite team to investigate. The team includes language expert Louise Banks (Amy Adams) and mathematician Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner). As the world spirals out of control because of the possibility of invasion, Banks and Donnelly take a chance that threatens their life, and the very future of the world.
With Villeneuve at the helm, Arrival is sure to be a tantalising science fiction experience, especially given his hard-edged approach to filmmaking which focuses on raw characters and intense dramatic scenarios.

Arrival will reach cinemas on July 21, 2017 in the US and on July 24, 2017 in New Zealand and Australia.
