Following his performance as the Clown Prince of Crime in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, Academy Award winner Jared Leto has been confirmed to be starring in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner sequel.
Variety has confirmed that the actor will have a supporting role in the film as a totally original character.
The sequel will follow private detective and ‘blade runner’ Rick Deckard who will again be played by Harrison Ford. The cast will also feature Ryan Gosling, Robin Wight, Dave Bautista and Ana de Armas. Original director Ridley Scott is serving as a producer and will assist Villeneuve as a creative consultant.
Given Leto’s total method approach to his craft and the crazy lengths that he goes to realise his characters, we can only imagine the intensity that he will bring to his new mystery character.
The sequel is set to his theaters next year on October 5, 2017 in New Zealand and Australia and on October 6, 2017 in the US and UK.
