It was one of the 1980s definitive cult teen horror movies, and now The Lost Boys is being re-envisioned as a new series on The CW.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that showrunner Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars, iZombie) is reworking the film for TV, and that it will follow the titular group of teenage biker vampires beginning in San Francisco in 1967 during the Summer of Love, and will follow the crew as they continue to live through the remaining seven decades.

The show will also be episodic by nature, following a formula set by shows such as True Detective, and will follow a new group of characters each season, except for the Lost Boys, who will consistently stay the same throughout the series.

The 1987 film had a real punk rock element to it, which was epitomised by Kiefer Sutherland’s David, and we’re certain that this will be retained during the new series.

It has not been confirmed whether original stars Kiefer Sutherland or Jason Patric would return in cameos, but we’ll keep our eyes out.
