Following his ambitious directorial debutWhiplash, director Damien Chazelle is taking audiences into a Hollywood of wonder, glitz and jazz with La La Land.
La La Land follows Mia (Emma Stone), an ambitious actress is looking to make it in Hollywood who begins to fall for Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a jazz musician who scrapes by playing cocktail lounges. But as success mounts, their love for each other begins to fray, and the glamour and glitz of the Hollywood machine threatens to pull them apart.
Chazelle evokes the grandeur of the Hollywood’s golden age with his ambitious jazz setting and dream sequences, and with its beautiful set dressing, dance scenes and evocative score, La La Land will be a very memorable experience for audiences.
La La Land is set to debut at this year’s Venice Film Festival, before being released on December 2 in the US and UK. It will then make its way into cinemas in New Zealand and Australia on December 26.
