Netflix is fast becoming the playground for filmmakers who truly want to tell stories that make an impact on audiences, and they’re now bringing a tale of absolute courage to life in The Siege of Jodotville.
Set in 1961 in the Congo Crisis, a battalion of 155 Irish soldiers under the command of the UN are pulled into a peacekeeping role in the middle of political strife in the African nation. But in an unexpected turn of events, Commander Pat Quinlan (Dornan) and his troops find themselves caught in a bloody standoff against a group of over 5,000 Belgium mercenaries.
Since his star-making turn in Fifty Shades of Grey, Dornan has continued to push himself as an actor with a stream of diverse projects, and Jadotville appears to have really tested his metal. Dornan is also joined by a terrific supporting cast including Jason O’Mara, Michael McElhatton, Guillaume Canet and Mark Strong.
The Siege of Jadotville will premiere on Netflix on October 7.
